We have a number of opportunities for you to grow in your faith, and in the knowledge and love of God.
Lectionary Bible Study
Every Wednesday morning at 10:00am, members of the congregation gather with the pastor in the Lounge (behind the sanctuary) to read and discuss scripture.
We follow the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year calendar of readings shared by churches of many denominations. Each week, four readings are assigned: one from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament Epistles (or letters), one from the Gospels, and a Psalm. The readings are designed to be thematically related and to give a broad sense of the general content of the Bible over the course of three years.
During Bible study, we discuss one or more of the upcoming week’s readings, the historical context behind them, and their relevance to our lives and world today. Come join us!
Small Groups
From time to time, the pastor will host a small group discussion on any of a number of topics. These studies normally gather once a week for a month or two, and cover everything from Methodist history and beliefs to book studies, Bible deep dives, prayer groups, and more.
Prayer Group meets after Bible study (around 11:15pm) every Wednesday, in person and online, for few minutes of prayer based on the monastic tradition. We’ll sing a hymn, read some psalms, and then close with prayers for the world and ourselves. Just a few minutes to center yourself before returning to your day. All are welcome!
Crash Course: The Psalms will begin in January at Victor and East Bloomfield. It’s a six-week deep dive into the prayer book built into the Bible. There will be daytime and evening sessions. Stay tuned for time and dates.
Contact the church office to suggest the next topic for Victor to host!
